An e-book taken from project Gutenberg.
It tells the story of Agnes, the daughter of a minister. She starts to work as a governess, because, her family cannot afford to feed all their children. The reader learns what life was like in the 19th century, especially for governesses, who encountered a lot of difficulties and constraints in their jobs when having to do with spoiled children. I could hardly stand the self-righteousness of the main character and several times had to force myself to read on, but I was rewarded with a really nice ending :-)
