Le Guin creates a universe rich with detail. The question of gender (or lack thereof) is for me, the heart of this work. How would this world be different if EVERY human on Earth had the capability of bearing children and shouldering the burden/joy of pregnancy? Think of it, the President of the United States, or Prime Minister of England, or ruler of Saudi Arabia has to take a month-off after childbirth?

I am looking forward to reading this book. I have not read one of Le Guin's books before, but anticipate a good read!
