A Child Called 'It': One child's courage to survive
3 journalers for this copy...

Outrageous. Almost to the point of being unbelievable. But still a heart wrenching book whether you believe the story or not.

Thank you pgetrnr for the RABCK as well as the Michigan bookmark/postcard!! I have been so curious about this book... I have another book in front of this one, but I'll be sure to journal again just as soon as I am finished. Thank you again!

I had another book TBR I was planning on starting, but "A Child Called 'It'" arrived from another bookcrosser a few days ago, and I felt compelled to read it. Although the story is so sad and difficult to read, I finished it in a few hours.
I wish the Dave Pelzer put his story into just one book. I am told that to get the whole story of his courage, and success surviving, you really need to read all 3. I truly wish he put his entire story in 1 book.
The story itself was just horrific. The abuse went on and on, got worse and worse...it was hard to take even as a reader. Could people like this really exist? You'd think that his siblings at the very least wouldn't let this go on. I am glad that the school nurse and teachers finally figured out what was going on...but what took them so long?
I think I am going to have to get the next book.....
This one is available to anyone who dares....

Received as a controlled release.
Depicts the author's life as a child in an abusive relationship with his mother, his coping mechanisms and triumph. The story makes one aware of the horrors that occurred and the control that the abuser can have over all members of the family in order for the abuse not to be reported. Thank God for the teachers, school nurse, principal and police.
If you can deal with the subject matter it is a quick read--it leaves you wanting to read the next two books in order to answer questions that arise.
