Cat-astrophic wit.
One hundred fifty poems--
Better than catnip.

Hilarious collection of cat-centric poetry.

My favorite:

Is it not lovely
The way my fur wafts through the
Air when you pet me?

What’s a bookring and how does it work?

A bookring is when a book passes from person to person based on the list of members involved. A bookring book is never released into the wild since it should end up back with the person who registered it.

To join this bookring (or any other bookring of mine) please private message me and include your location and shipping preference (US only, international, etc.). I will be glad to add you to the list. New members are added all of the time so be sure to check the list of participants before you mail the book to the next in line just in case it's changed since you got the book.

Once you are a bookring member, you will receive the book from the person listed before you. When you receive the book please make a journal entry stating that you’ve received it. Then read it as soon as you can (no absolute hurry, just be reasonable please), and journal again with your thoughts, ideas, or opinions on it. You’ll then need to private message the person on the list after you for their address. Mail the book by media mail (it’s cheaper!) and make a release note so that we can track it. Then sit back and watch the journey continue!

The members are as follows (mailing order will change as new participants are added):

cyberkedi in Georgia, USA
katssokrazy in Georgia, USA
tchouli in Georgia, USA
Momathome in Illinois, USA
thescreaming in Maryland, USA *
monado in Canada
lauraloo29 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada *
IceAgent in Canada * <-------- currently
libertine101 in Australia * (prefers that bit o' the globe for shipping)
briskel in Australia
lilacea in Australia
Elspeth in Massachusets, USA
JustJen in Missouri, USA
AnnaLibrarian in Washington, USA
havfaith in Alaska, USA
*back to me at the end, to be given to my favorite Cat-Only veterinarian's office in Honolulu!

Released on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at SENT TO FELLOW BOOKCROSSER in RABCK, postal release USA.

On its way to Cyberkedi...enjoy!

Just caught as part of a book ring. This book is a delight! I read the first "chapter," and the haiku really do capture the nature of cats. (My cat Ragamuffin seems interested in it!)

Journal Entry 5 by katssokrazy from Stone Mountain, Georgia USA on Sunday, March 21, 2004
This was hand-delivered to me by cyberkedi as part of a book-ring. I already know I love it since I flipped through and read a couple, but I can't wait to sit down and read them all.

recvd today from katssokrazy: i was outside when the mail arrived; so i sat in my lounge with my colony around me and read the book. i laughed out loud on some of the poems - how true they are.

i had 4 i liked the best(i don't want to spoil it for others)- but the one most pertinent to BC is this one...

You read books; I like
To lie on top of them. We're
Both bibliophiles.

This was such a funny book. The entire time I was reading, I kept looking at my cats and thinking "yup, that's true", lol.

PMing monado to pass the book on this weekend.

Received in the mail today--thanks, thescreaming!
It goes to the top of my to-read list.

Journal Entry 13 by monado from Toronto, Ontario Canada on Sunday, July 04, 2004

This was very amusing. LotStreetWiz and I read it together. The pictures were almost my favourite part; but here's a very nice haiku:

You may have those odd
"Opposable thumbs," but I
Can talk with my tail.

Here's a picture of it on my back porch with a maple key.

I am now packaging it up to mail.

This is a very funny book. I read it out loud to my husband last night. So many match our 2 cats. I'm still waiting to hear back from the next person, so I have some time to copy some of my favorites. I'll get the book moving again as quickly as possible. Thank you for sharing!

Update Sept 19th - took a bit longer than I thought, but I have been in contact with IceAgent. We work very near each other, so I will be hand delivering the book tomorrow.

Journal Entry 17 by IceAgent from Madsen, Ontario Canada on Sunday, September 26, 2004
Received this book from lauraloo29 in person. We only work a block away from each other! Small world eh?!
The haiku's are great and some of them made me laugh right out loud.
I read it twice cause it was nice.
My fav one is:

Visitors come. They
Coo over me. Ignoring
Them, I wash my rump.

So true at my house!

Aug 22, 2008 - asked next person in line for their current address

Journal Entry 18 by IceAgent from Madsen, Ontario Canada on Monday, September 01, 2008
mailed to libertine101 in Australia on Aug 29, 2008.

My fave is :

Tee hee :)

And seeing it is December:

A tree to climb, light
Cords to bite, presents to prowl.
I love Christmastime.

The illustrations in this book are lovely.

EDIT: briskel was next but I have been unable to get in touch with her via Pmms, posting on the Bookring/Ray forum on BC site or posting on the Yahoo Aussie BCers group.
So, I am now trying to get in touch with lilacea who happens to live in the same city as me.

Sent off to AnnaLibrarian via Sea Mail. May take a while to arrive, as she is in the USA.

For the record, I had difficulty getting in touch with: Elspeth, JustJen, lilacea and briskel . That is why I had to skip over them all to AnnaLibrarian.

Journal Entry 22 by AnnaLibrarian from Richmond, Virginia USA on Monday, March 23, 2009
Two months later, this book finally arrived. I suspect that the Australia Post makes use of migratory fish schools for shipping packages by sea. ;) Plan to read & ship the book this week, provided I get an address from the next ring member, who, like myself, may have forgotten that they signed up for it four years ago.
