A well-written and scientifically well-researched tale of an astronaut, member of one of the first Mars exploration teams. He is stranded on the planet, left for dead by his fellow team mates when an emergency evacuation is suddenly required. The rest of the novel is the detailed story of his survival and rescue. Quite realistic, though there are a few cases of the author skating fast over thin ice, technically speaking.
