Christmas at Rosie Hopkins Sweet Shop by Jenny Colgan - Good
Needed a change from Christmas Crime so the next of my own bookish advent calendar (*) was something more twee and heartwarming. I haven't read the previous book about Rosie but that didn't matter. There were enough 'memories' dropped into this one to fill in the gaps.
Rosie is looking forward to her first Christmas in Lipton and her shop is decorated and full of festive treats. Then tragedy strikes the village - can they pull together and rescue the season? I'm sure you can guess, but it's nicely written and just on the right side of twee.
Not my usual genre but even I like a little bit of heartwarming nonsense at this time of year.
(*) every year I collect interesting looking Christmas themed books, wrap them up and then pick them at random during December. I never know what I'm going to get and I have some sweet treats wrapped for non-book days. Works for me!
