I found the first part of this book very slow - maybe because of the way it is written. But it did pick up and turned out to be a very good story. I found it really strange to be feeling sympathetic to the main male character, Joe (not wanting to give too much of the story away).

This book arrived safe and sound in Buffalo, NY today. I'm receiving it as part of a raiding bookshelves swap on BookObsessed.com.
I'm pulling together a bag of books for my mom (chargoyle) to borrow. I think she'll like this one.
It was interesting reading about the Maori culture in New Zealand, especially since I have traveled to New Zealand and could visualize some of the places in the story. However, I didn't find the story line or the characters easy to identify with.
I'll be returning this book to my daughter (morsecode) when I see her next.
