Brought new in Waterstones as it looked really good and also fits into the 666 challenge that I am trying to do this year (6 books, from 6 countries, from 6 continents)
This is not an easy read. It is about the experiences of Tibetans following the Chinese invasion in the 1950's. The author interviewed Tibetans who were in exile in India and managed to visit Ngaba to collaborate the stories. Visiting Ngaba as a journalist is no mean feat in itself, however as she is quick to point out, if she got caught she would most likely just be deported, whilst the people she was talking to could end up in prison or worse. A shocking and brutally honest depiction of life for the ethnic minorities in China.
This is now going to be a book ring.

Thank you for this book. I am a member of "Free Tibet" so I know I will find it interesting.
I found this difficult to read but very interesting. It is heartbreaking the way these people have been treated. China is intent on eradicating Tibetan culture and religion. Why does the world stand by and do nothing?

Thank you so much for this amazing book parcel. So sorry it’s taken me so long to open and journal the books. I got moved off the kitchen table and put into a cupboard when guests came over… amd shamefully forgotten about. This looks good, so I’ll be reading it. Thank you.
