saw this in a charity shop and couldn't resist, especially as it is a beautiful hard back

Firstly, this is a really beautiful book in appearance and it is really lovely to read a book which has a cloth book marker in it.

I really enjoyed this book. although I found it difficult at first. It was one of those books which is quite a surprise. I didn't guess the ending.

Thank you so much for the extra book. I have The Miniaturist on my shelf after hearing such good things about it and looks like you enjoyed this one too.

1 March 21 - If someone had told me I would enjoy books about painting a few years ago I probably would of given them a funny look, but here I am having read The Goldfinch last year and now this which both have a painting at the centre of it, and having enjoyed them both.

This had a bit of a blast from the past to start with starting in Dolcis shoe shop! I got drawn straight in to the story, however when it switched back in time to Olives story, my interest waned slightly. I soon got back into it and couldn’t put the book down. I could tell early on there was more of a connection then just the painting between the two time lines, and it didn’t take much to work out what it was as the story progressed, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment.

I’ve passed this one to my mum to read
