This is the sequel to Night Sins which is worth a read. The story this time focuses on the Assistant County Attorney Ellen North who is prosecuting the person who kidnapped Josh Kirkwood (see previous novel). Despite having a suspect in custody awaiting trial another child has now been abducted. The prosecuting lawyer insists his client has been wrongfully arrested while Ellen North is convinced there is an assistant to the crimes!

Ellen is also being stalked by bestselling true-crime writer Jay Butler Brooks and sparks fly between them as they parry words together before predictably falling into bed with each other.
