No 2

Melanie has grown accustomed to renovating old houses, but she never imagined she'd have to renovate her own life to include her estranged mother. Ginnette Prioleau Middleton left Charleston thirty-five years ago. She's returned wanting to protect the daughter she's never really known after receiving an ominous premonition.

Melanie never wanted to see her mother again, but with some prodding from her partner, Jack Trenholm, she agrees and begins to rebuild their relationship. Together Melanie and Ginnette buy back their old home. With their combined psychic abilities they expect to unearth some ghosts. But what they find is a vengeful dark spirit whose strength has been growing for decades. It will take unearthing long buried secrets to beat this demon and save what's left of Melanie's family?

I do love these Tradd Street novels!

Even though I was already at the end of No 1 pretty annoyed with Melanie and her
behaviour towards herself and especially towards Jack!!
But I wanted to know how the story goes on and so I bought No 2 :-)
And I liked it.. despite the fact that I have to read now No 3 and 4 to finally learn their fate!

Yay, I think this is the second in this series.. This was waiting for me when I returned from holiday. Lots ot catch up with, but I'll try to get to it soon. Thanks for making it available, thanks for sending. Hope you've all had good summers as well!

Journal Entry 8 by wingpenelopewanderswing at Hasliberg, Bern / Berne Switzerland on Tuesday, August 23, 2016
I haven't read the other reviews on goodreads, but I did catch a glimpse of someone irked by Melanie's attitude towards her mother and the inertia in her relationship with Jack. So yes. (Hope that's no spoiler). It seems hard to fathom she's meant to be turning 40 and so often behaves like such a child. This is, of course remarked on, especially by Jack. Despite these irritations, I continue to enjoy this series very much. The OCD heroine is unusual, and she is endearing, complexes, stubbornness and all. The ambiguity presented by Rebecca was intriguing, even if I had half guessed. This is here as a spiral/ring and I truly hope the other books in the series follow.
I've written for the next address.

Arrived today. The envelope was partially opened, but I don't think anything has fallen out(?). Thanks for sending CathrineB and for the lovely tea! Looking forward to see how the story continues with Melanie and Jack. Thanks Kiki, for the sharing the books. :)

Journal Entry 14 by Tsjara at Assendelft, Noord-Holland Netherlands on Monday, December 26, 2016
Sorry this took me a bit longer to read. Like the previous book, I like the setting and the ghostly bits, but Melanie keeps annoying me. The story could have been shortened a bit, to me it sometimes felt it rambled on without much happening. And they took quite a long time with the mystery, even though some bits were rather obvious. Still, a nice light read for these long evenings.

The book will travel on to appletreen soon!

Journal Entry 16 by appletreen at Coalville, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Wednesday, January 11, 2017
The book has arrived safely and I've started it today having forgotten all about it being the sequel to Tradd Street. The cookies were lovely, thank you, an unexpected treat.

Journal Entry 17 by appletreen at Coalville, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Friday, January 27, 2017
Book 2 arrived, so closely followed by book 3. To start I was a bit concerned that I wasn't getting into the story quite as much. It came across as a bit formulaic, and I had my concerns. Then, all of a sudden, I'm swept into the story with ghosts, and long lost relatives and was very glad the day that I'd popped book 3 into my bag to read as soon as I'd finished book 2.

I'll get in touch with Icilia and see if she still wants to read this book as I know she has already read book 3.

After the lot of trouble you had to replace this book I'm sorry to say that, although I read it to the end, it was a lot too long and I got lost with all the characters and the genealogy.

I loved this second book of this series and I can't wait to read the third and know what happens to Melanie and his love and social lives ! Hope you'll enjoy as I am Bluewuzl !

Journal Entry 27 by bluezwuzl at Altdorf (Niederbayern), Bayern Germany on Tuesday, November 26, 2019
[The book arrived long ago, sorry, I thought I had registered the book when it arrived.]
I must say, though, that I, too, got a bit annoyed by Melanie's behaviour regarding her mother. It just doesn't seem to fit into the picture - and stressing it time and again gets a bit tiring.
However, I enjoyed meeting the characters again - and the cliffhanger suggests fun for the next book... 😉

Journal Entry 28 by wingkiki66wing at Gauting, Bayern Germany on Friday, April 2, 2021
This book has arrived safe and sound - I think now I have them all back again.. either the original copy or the substitutes for the stalled ones.
Thank you all!
@bluezwuzl: the book did look like that.. I bought a used copy.. no worries!
and thanks for the tea bag ;-)
