CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I ordered a copy of this from awesome books as a Birthday Wishlist RABCK but was a bit disappointed to find some writing on the last page. So I've swapped it with my copy from my Permanent Collection instead. Enjoy! :o)
Thank you Plum-crazy! That's so kind of you to swap the copies. I will make sure to take care of this one.
I read one of Goudge's adult novels last year and was very impressed by her writing. I have high hopes for this one.

This was a nice, gentle read. Twee? Well, yes. But sometimes we all need a little twee in our lives. I liked the descriptions of Maria's magical new home and the efforts she made to put the adults right who were spoiling things.
The best characters were probably the animals. Wrolf, the dog/lion figure of masterfulness was my favourite. I'd quite like a Wrolf in the house, even if he did occasionally eat the entire family's dinner.

Thank you so much LittleSuz! It has a beautiful white Unicorn on the front and it is a book - what more can I ask for?
