Joachim Fest, a German journalist and internationally famous biographer of Hitler, assembles the historical evidence for the several attempts by the German resistance on the life of Adolph Hitler. The most successful attempt occurred on July 20, 1944, only nine months before the suicide of Hitler and the end of the European war.
