A young girl is perched on the cold chrome of yet another doctor’s examining table, missing yet another day of school. Just twelve, she’s tall, skinny, and weak. It’s four o’clock, and she hasn’t been allowed to eat anything all day. Her mother, on the other hand, seems curiously excited. She's about to suggest open-heart surgery on her child to "get to the bottom of this." She checks her teeth for lipstick and, as the doctor enters, shoots the girl a warning glance. This child will not ruin her plans.

Very interesting book written with surprisingly little self pity considering what the author endured. Worth reading.

A well written story of child abuse by the abused child. Julie was a victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hands of her mother. It was not until she was an adult did she understand the sickness she has suffered as a child were a creation of her mother’s sick mind. She shows extraordinary courage to create a new life for herself.
To be released at Meetup.

This book was once again left behind at our monthly meetup! I collected it to release it elsewhere, but having read the back jacket cover and Goodreads review I'm tempted to give it a go. Up Mt TBR it goes!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book came with me to France and the UK earlier this year. Not usually my kind of book but I thought I'd give it a go because of the good reviews. It was ok but I felt more could have been done of the author's sad and unusual story. Maybe it was the style? I don't know, I was left wanting more.

To be released at the Melbourne monthly meetup.

Well written book by an abused child (well written in as much as she missed so much of her schooling due to absenteeism whilst her mother kept seeking the latest cure for her daughter's imaginary illnesses). She articulated the story of her strange life with her abusive mother very well, and was strong enough to escape and make a new life for herself as well as to reconnect with her mother in order to try to save another abused child.
