We really enjoyed Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn. We never got bored with it because every time we thought we had figured out the mystery, the plot would twist and there would be a new hint that led me to believe something else! The way that the book’s perspective switched from Nick to his missing wife’s diary made the book very suspenseful. The split point-of-view never allowed us to be bored because every chapter gave us information about Amy and Nick’s past or present. Every chapter answered some of my questions and also led to new ones, the book ended in a satisfying “aha!” moment. Because of the surprises and plot twists we had many conflicting feelings towards the two main characters, in the end they climaxed to an exhilarating rush where the final plot was resolved. In most books that I have read, I am left unsatisfied with the ending, either wanting more information or feeling the book dragged on for to long. In Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn held us captivated with the story until the very end, never once was I uninterested or bored.
