Growing up i in post-war Japan, it seemed to Hajime that everyone but him had brothers and sisters. His sole companion was Shimamoto, also an only child. Now Hajime is in his thirties; he has found happiness with his wife and two daughter. Then Shimamoto reappears, putting at risk all he has in the present.

Read this a while ago and forgot to journal it. I do remember that I enjoyed it.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
On the book buffet, or if not taken, released somewhere around Oslo.
A Murakami book I haven't read yet. My lucky day.
I do like Murakami's work, and this book is no exception. It starts off like a nice easy story about children/teenagers who struggle to understand themselves and life around them, however, when Hajime meets Shimamoto again, there is a turn in the way the book is written.
It is all about love, friendship and how to treat each other.
As with a lot of other books by Murakami the characters are bordering between being real and unreal. They seem to appear in some sort of twilight world, where you, as a reader, do not really know what to believe.
