WILD RELEASE NOTES:
To be released at meetup
Picked up at meet up.
My goodreads review (mild spoilers).
I don't really know how I feel about this one. I did finish it, but it was hard going.
I knew I had to finish it today when it started influencing my dreams last night (not in good way).
It is quite dark.
As a story it is a bit patchy with some bits stronger than others. Obviously there's a lot about death or dying. How that affects the reader will obviously depend on their own attitude to death. It's fascinating reading, but it can play on your mind too, which is how I personally found it.
I could have done with a little less of the back story and the tragedy with Sonny (did it really have to go there with the heart removal scene?).
Ditto the blood sausage. That was horrific, even the scene leading up to it with the syringe.
I am really not sure if this was actually a good book or not. I didn't really feel sad at the end or feel Delia's pain. I didn't dislike her either, though some of the things she did were odd to me.
Glad to have read it but glad to have finished it too.
