Lately I seem to be reading multiple-perspective novels about families in pain. There's a lot of pain in this family, and I found myself skipping over the descriptions of abuse.

This is the first of Wally Lamb's work I've read. Although I'm glad I saw this novel through to the end, I doubt I'll read his other books.
