Journal Entry 4 by kiwiinengland at Wellington City, Wellington Province New Zealand on Sunday, February 5, 2017
This book showed me the difficulties of war on an individual level, not just for soldiers but for women left behind. Changing social expectations, and unaddressed mental trauma meant for many the rules of society were no longer clear.
I enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed this book.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it.

This book reflects what happened to so many families during WWII. It is so sad that so many were disappointed in love, or maimed beyond recognition, but it also reflects the skills of the surgical staff who gave so much to remedy the results of war. They were ably assisted by the women who worked alongside them and saw the end results of these operations at a different level. The power of reconciliation would have been so much greater if it were not for pride. Well written.
