I bought this book at a charity shop in the nearby city of Waterloo, Ontario to the benefit of the Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy. I am a big fan of Judi Dench, but I haven't seen this movie. I tend to like books better than movies, so I thought I would try reading this before seeing the movie. It was very different from what I was expecting, but I think it was a worthwhile read. I feel like it gave me a different perspective on/insight into some things, and I am grateful for that... After having read the book, I'm not sure if I will see the movie or not... but as I said, I do think it was a worthwhile read for me.

This weekend, my husband and I are taking a road trip to West Virginia, where part of this story is set. We won't be near the towns mentioned (Harper's Ferry, Shepherdstown)... but we will be a lot closer than we are here at home in Canada! I think I will take this book along for the ride; perhaps I'll find a place to leave it in The Mountain State!

My husband and I stopped for on-the-go-breakfast and gas around 10:30 AM, after spending the night in Charleston on our weekend road trip. We left this book on top of the gas pump we used (pump number 6).
