I received this book in the mail today along with the calendar. Thank you so much for this book. I am currently reading Isabel Dalhousie book no. 5, The Comforts of a Muddy Saturday. I will be ready to jump into this book when I am done with No. 5.
Isabel's son is now eighteen months old. Her relationship with the son's father is going well. However, Isabel is having problems with the philosophical journal that she now owns and edits. The problems eminate from her nemesis, Professor Dove, who has made an accusation of plagiarism against her. An acquaintance of Isabel who Isabel does not particularly like seeks some personal counsel from Isabel. Although there are mysteries to be solved, this series is not a typical mystery book and this book does not have much in the way of mysteries at all.

This book was slow going at first, but then Alexander McCall Smith's books are characterized by a slow pace with many bunny trails of philosophical pondering that can be quirky and mildly humorous. However, at first it seemed as though this book had crossed the border to boring, but then the book got more interesting. The characters are really quite unique and give a glimpse at Scottish society. By the way, Isabel was not accused of plagiarism but she was accused of not dealing with plagiarism in a competent way.
The General Literature VBB is currently inactive. This book is now available.
