Haha For some reason I thought this was in Britain, not America. I don't think I was paying enough attention when I pick this up! :p
What's particularly fascinating about it, is that it's based on facts. And what a wild life this privileged rich white girl went through.
Some people might be glad to see such things befall someone who has everything, but she had such a innocent and nice personality, I don't think that would be appropriate from anyone. If anything her sheltered life did not prepare her properly from some of the more vicious personalities out there. She fell for someone who was the absolute Definition of a domestic violence abuser. At a time and age of which women had little protection from such vicious people.
The book toted the end, as her being a successful victor and a match for him. But I have a different viewpoint. I feel that the damage that was done to her was permanent. And debilitating. It altered her in ways that were not natural and left her last days quite dark indeed. People around her may have loved her, but they didn't help the world inside her head she lived in. I felt very sorry for the state of her life. And I felt the story did a very good job of laying it out.
Two thumbs up! And now it is on to a new BC member to be listened to. :)
