Ellie has to admit that life as a grown up isn't what she expected.
She wanted a penthouse apartment with billowing curtains and an impossibly handsome and sensitive man - preferably her teen idol Andrew McCarthy, the 80's Brat Pack movie star.
She got: a poky flat shared with a Big Bastard who isn't even her boyfriend, and a sense that, somehow, things haven't gone according to plan for her and her friends. Julia won't marry her boyfriend, because he's way too nice, and Siobhan thinks that salvation can be found in the isles of Ikea.
But perhaps the coolest wisest Brat Packer of them all can tell them where they went wrong? Armed only with the homicidally grumpy Julia, two weeks' supply of Cheez Whizz and an irrepressible optimism, Ellie sets off to Hollywood to fling Andrew McCarthy and get the answers to life's big questions.
She hopes...

Funny quick read, more appreciated if you know your 80's films well. Ellie sets off on road trip from LA to New York to seek advice from her crush Andrew McCarthy.
Loved it all the more because Arthur didn't manage to finish 'On the Road' (by Jack Kerouac) - I only read 1 book in March this year and it was the very same and it was a real struggle!!

Jetting it's way to the USA.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Thanks so much for sending me a wishlist book. I love this author! Lumbermoose and Rcoufan were surprised to receive the books you sent to them. Thanks for thinking of us!

My Review: This book was a fun read! Ellie is the main character and her friends are all a little nuts. Ellie's 30th birthday party is a huge disappointment, so she decides to do something to get a revelation about life from Andrew McCarthy...if she can find him. This might not make as much sense if you haven't seen the 1980's teenage angst movies such as: Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, etc. I was a teenager in the 1980's, so it was fun to take a walk down memory lane.
Saved for a bookbox.
