"The Circle runs everything - all your internet activity in one easy, safe and visible place. No wonder it is now the world's most powerful and influential company. So when Mae Holland lands a job at its glittering California campus, she knows, she's made it. But the more her ideals and ambitions become aligned with those of the Circle, the closer she comes to discovering a sinister truth at the heart of an organization seeking to remake the world in its image . . ."

Hallo daar, vinder!

I've taken it with me from the meeting. Looking forward to it, a bit intrigued even.

Mae was a very unlikeable character. She was selfish, a hypocrite and an empty vessel who wasn't capable of any critical thought. She had no respect or empathy whatsoever for the people around her.
I very much disliked her.
The story itself felt partially improbable and probable at places. I hope society won't be such sheeps to the slaughter.

Thank you for the package that arrived today
13 March 22 - This started off quite sedately with Mae finding the job of her dreams in a office that kind of remind me of Google from the film The Internship. But it’s not quite all it seems. Some of the social media stuff reminded me of the world today, just the other week we sat in the middle of a restaurant watching a group of six people all on their phones, not talking to each other and not enjoying the view out the window. As the book progresses you can see the work load getting bigger and the push trying to get her to engage in the social side of the business, but ultimately meaning less time with family.. The social stuff gets more extreme as the book goes on and actually had me feeling quite anxious at times. Mae is very much a follower and wants to please but this does make her become selfish towards her friends and family and makes her quite an unlikeable character. The attempt at a twist was very obvious too me, I saw it coming a mile off, and I wasn’t keen on the ending, but it was still a very readable book.
