Hired to find and kill an infamous Noble who escaped during transport, D sets off into the mountains, reluctantly accompanying a group ranging from fellow Hunters to a kid searching for his father. But as they venture farther, they learn that this vampire has more than a few unusual tricks up his sleeve and some unexpected allies.
I bought this book at Anime Boston and finally got myself caught up with what has been translated so far.
This was better than many of the VHD books have been lately. It still has its slogging moments, but for the most part the plot is consistently paced, we get an interesting array of characters (I really liked the doctor) and some interesting looks at the Nobility's tech. I enjoyed the classic horror elements, both in the Duke's escape and in the castle, and thought the sci-fi was blended in nicely.

This book is one of the starting volumes for Round II of The Otherworldly Bookbook
I picked this out of emmejo's Otherworldly Bookbox. I had to pick at least one vampire book out of the box (I have a few in my collection already). I have not read any of the VHD books. So, it will be interesting to give this one a try. For some reason, I'm always inclined to read Vampire books in the fall or during inclement weather. Sitting by the fireplace... It adds something to the experience. Thanks for sharing!
