This is the first in the series of 20 books about Captain Jack Aubrey. It makes you want to dash down to Portsmouth to climb all over The Victory, or to run away to sea. It's also a jolly good story. Recently made into a film starring Russell Crowe - which has had very good reviews, but my mental Jack Aubrey doesn't look like Mr Crowe, so I have not seen it.
