This is a YA urban fantasy novel about what happens to a southern town after a hurricane sweeps through and leaves well-concealed demons in its wake. Protagonist Dovey has barely started to make sense of her best friend's death when she learns that she might not be dead at all. Her investigation into her friend's true fate leads her into some deep, dark corners of her city, and brings her into sometimes terrifying, sometimes heart-rendering contact with creatures the likes of which she has never even imagined. Very much in the southern gothic tradition.

This is an ARC version of the novel, which came out in hardcover in 2014. The paperback is due to be published on June of 2015.
