A compelling read, hard to put down. Susan Howatch has lived in Salisbury which was the inspiration for her Stourbridge series. This is linked to that series, if not actually a part of it. I've read several of the series and enjoyed them but would not want to read them consecutively.

I read this absolutely ages ago but didn't journal! I remember I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would, to be honest. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind for it. Anyway I feel I have hung onto it for long enough without feeling like giving it another go (I sometimes do that if I feel I haven't given a book fair consideration) but have decided I am going to release it soon as part of a large release of 80 books I am hoping to make before October, in memory of my father. If I make it to the Winchester meet I will be taking it with me, otherwise I will offer it up on a ray.
