Finished last night so time to add my thoughts I think!
This book is one I have wanted to read for quite a while and in the end was typical Ben Elton type stuff. He loves to sieze upon a 'topical' issue (as in his stand-up routine) and write about it in his own unique but very humourous style. This time it's the effect violent movies/tv programmes have on society as a whole.
The end result is fairly routine, but there are plenty of laughs to be had along the way despite the subject matter. Only Mr Elton could get away with some of the (rather frighteningly true in some cases) analogies he comes up with!
So - I enjoyed it, but not as much as say High Society or Dead Famous. Thanks again mate!

Me! And a very loving home I've prepared for it too...a little basket, fresh water and a bundle of hay. It'll be well-cared for during it's stay, and I'll make sure I pass it on to another caring book-owner when the time comes to go travelling again. ;O)
Thanks so much for bringing this along yesterday, chick - perfect bookcrossing serendipity strikes again!!
Update 26/5/04
Odd. I think this is probably the first Ben Elton I haven't enjoyed at all, and that's mainly because instead of his usual bit of parody/bit of politics, this seems to have been lifted straight from 'Natural Born Killers', 'Pulp Fiction', and any number of Tarantino-penned movies. In fact it's such a close-run thing in places that I'm quite surprised that there haven't been any problems regarding copyright.
By the way, while I loved 'Pulp Fiction', I loathed 'Natural Born Killers', which might go some way to explaining why I didn't enjoy this at all.
Also, the fact that it was the only Ben Elton book I hadn't read maybe has something to do with it...I think perhaps I had built it up in my mind too much, too.
Oh, well, never mind... I'll take it along to Leeds with me and see if I can't find someone to take it home who's neither read it already or seen 'NBK'...;O)

Picked up at the Leeds Bookcrossing meet-up in June.
Just over half-way through and enjoying it so far. Reading snatches on the train to work, and whenever I can.
Planning wild release in Colorado when work send me over in the next few weeks.

Caught at tonight's Leeds Bookcrossing Meetup.
A biting satire on the film and television world, the book tells the story of a controversial producer of violent films and how his world is completely altered when two maniacs on a killing spree find him and his family. A very clever book, I've always been a bit wary of Ben Elton books but this was spectacular. Highly recommended.

Finally got down the pile to finish this one!
As previously stated, very 'Natural Born Killers' 'Pulp Fiction' Tarantino, John Travolta in the starring role....
Not really as entertaining as other 'Ben Elton whot i dun red'
The best part for me was the last four pages of epilogue, just so tragically true.
