Taking to the Oxford Convention 2015 for someone who has this on her wish list.
Oh my goodness! I can't believe I never journalled this (although the BCID was wrong so it took a bit of finding). I have had a Sue Grafton Spiral running since her death in December 2017, and we've only just reached 'V'. I'm looking forward to this.
At first I wasn’t sure about this, there didn’t seem to enough Kinsey but on looking back she had appeared by Chapter Two. Maybe I just couldn’t see where we could be going with Philip, Nora, Dante, Pinky etc. Because there were no other journals with reviews, I looked on Amazon to find out what other people thought and found one that said “I found this a bit uninteresting, and started skimming it, wanting to get to the principal characters.”, so I’m not alone. Having said that we soon got into the sway of Kinsey’s complicated life and the pace kept picking up to the end.

Quite a departure from the norm. Kinsey wasn't the main character.
Good story though.

Kinsey Millhone, PI, happens to see a pair of women shoplifting and report them to the store. When the woman who is caught apparently kills herself a few days later, Kinsey is drawn to look into it further and the woman's fiance hires her to investigate. Meanwhile organised crime boss Lorenzo Dante is having difficulties with his younger brother, and a cop with a grudge is causing Kinsey problems. Exciting, action packed, a page turner.

The post office are accepting post again now, so this is on its way to Maranlin. Hope it doesn't get stuck in a backlog...
Received today. Thanks, greenbadger! I do not have U yet, which went to paws4books before me, so I will save this until I can read U. Hope that is O.K. I like to read them in order!
Some chapters are told from the perspective of some of the characters and it took a bit of reading to figure out the relevance of these characters to the story. However, I did enjoy this book and as I always find with the Grafton novels, my reading speeds up in the latter part of the book. A good read.
Mailed to penelopewanders along with W.
This and the next in the spiral have arrived safely in the French countryside. I am surprisingly flat out for a retiree, trying to locate all manner of things and find places for my too many possessions so that I can empty packing boxes... but gradually. I will enjoy diving into this universe soonish. I gather Lamelemon might appreciate a bit more time to catch up, and as I just sent her U, I don't feel overly rushed.
Thanks so much for making this whole spiral available, and thanks, Maranlin, for sending. Wishing you all the very best.

As always, I want to avoid spoilers here, but this one toes an interesting line between what is bad and really bad... or who deserves a second chance, perhaps.
Kinsey pretty much unwittingly grazes elbows with the local organized crime, as well as some bad guys meant to be good, and as is often the case, manages to eek through almost unscathed. Old enmities prove founded here.
There is basically no mention of her biological family in this one, and Henry is away throughout most of the book, so those two recurring themes are missing, but we do get plenty of filing cards, and her relationship with the journalist Diane Alvarez is back on the scene. For the longest time I wondered what Nora's deal was, but that more or less sorts itself out right at the end.
Yet another good read which I am grateful to have thanks to the bookcrossing spiral. Thanks earthcaroleanne for setting it up and keeping it in order, and maranlin, for sending.

As I have W is for Wasted here with me too, I originally planned to read and send them together.
I will be travelling as of early next week and have guests over the weekend, so I don't know if I'll be able to finish W so quickly. As I have only just begun it, and absolutely had to go to the post office today and I know Lamelemon already has two ahead of this to read in the series, I decide to go ahead and separate V and W and send V on its own to Romania. If I finish W and have time to go to the post office before leaving, I'll post it, otherwise I will send it in September.
Hmm. Surely I could have explained that in ten words or less? Anyway, this is on its way.
Thanks so much for making these available - I wish everyone a brilliant summer!

And now V :) Thank you for sharing!
Bad good guys and good bad guys come together in parallel stories that find their common ground in the blink of an eye. Given the coyote scene, in my mind the story plays on with a second offscreen use of that Chekov's gun. The ending felt a bit rushed, although that might have been just me trying to finish the book in time to post it by the end of the day :)
And away we go. Happy reading!
