Being a teacher myself, I had to smile at Frank's experience when he walks into his class, the first in his whole teaching career. Seven years ago I was very scared myself and couldn't sleep the night before my first day "alone" in front of the kids (still a student teacher). It's really as it says in the Spectator's review: "... his accounts of learning how not to be torn to pieces by adolescents whose one object in life appears to be to destroy their teacher and acquire no education, are very funny indeed."
But the rest of this memoir is very nice, too: funny, but at the same time it makes you think a lot.
