I heard great things about this audiobook (pun not intended), so I decided to seek it out despite being a little tired of zombie stories.
I loved this audiobook. The interview style of the narrative works perfectly in this format. The voice acting is excellent and completely drew me in.
Highly recommended. And at around 6 hours, it's a very quick read ... or listen.
From Chapters.ca:
"The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet. He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living, or at least the undead, hell of that dreadful time. World War Z is the result. Never before have we had access to a document that so powerfully conveys the depth of fear and horror, and also the ineradicable spirit of resistance, that gripped human society through the plague years."

Passing this to Crataegus.
Whoohoo! New audiobook for knitting time!
Alright BookyMcBooks... You win. I listened to the audio book in almost one sitting (and I finished knitting a baby sweater in that time!)... It was good. It was really good. And it was much better as an audiobook than I can imagine it being on paper.
Very well written, very absorbing, very clever to have a full cast, very pro-america, and also very military. I'm glad it was more military since I was prepared to hear human stories on lost loved ones, and it's easier to stay more detached from the story when you're not hearing about lost parents, siblings, wives and husbands, from an uncontrollable plague.
Will be brought to the next Calgary BookCrossing meetup.

Picked up at today's meeting, came home with double the number of books that I brought, eek!
What a great audio book! I loved all the different voices, it made the characters come alive. Thanks for sharing this one!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Taking to the July meetup! I didn't realise this was an abridged version until near the end of the book. I listened to it as I drove to and from Edmonton for my best friend's birthday and was only one testimonial away from the end when I got home. When I picked up the book to finish, I saw more people as I flipped through to finish. It was very well done.
To the finder:
Calgary has an active group of BookCrossers that meet to swap books and discuss book crossing every second Saturday of the month at 11am at Cravings Market on Fairmount Drive SE. We always love to meet new crossers, so please join us any time you like!

Picked up this audiobook and the book today! I am really looking forward to listening to this on the drive up to Grand Prairie at the end of the month.
Took this audiobook to go along with the paperback.
Bringing to the October Calgary BookCrossing Meetup.
Picked up at get together
Listened to this after reading the book. It is a very well done audio version! Though it skips some of the parts in the book that had more impact to me.
It looks at so many different areas and points of view as to how things in different people's lives and the world at large could be impacted by such an all out war.
Thanks for the great listen!

Taken to get together
Picked up at the meeting today - it may languish with me for a while
Finally gave this a listen - very enjoyable. Great cast. Love that Henry Rollins was one of the cast. He always sounds like Henry Rollins :D
:)
:)
Adding to the Pandemic Book Box - hope the next reader enjoys
:)

Grabbed this book outta the first book box we have making its way though the group.
I started this without realizing it was a collection of stories from different perspectives around the world about a zombie apocalypse. It took me longer than it should have to realize the characters were never gonna meet.
My favourite story was the one based in Kyoto, Japan with Kondo.

Releasing into book box #2
I am dismantling Book Box 2 as we are back to in person meetings. Books will be sorted and bagged up for either a person who requested it or to the person who introduced it to the group. Please help me out if you can by making arrangements to collect your books. I have enough of my own books to deal with so please wild release or give away your own books as I don't have the capacity right now.
