The Last Unicorn

Been meaning to read this for some time now. Dug it out of the TBR stack when I saw it on the wishlist of someone else who will be at the Oxford Convention.
A lovely read. Imaginative, warm, engaging, funny, and true in the way that fairy stories are. I loved the characters and the imagery. I think the most poignant part was the menagerie of night beasts, especially the spider. Glad to have read it and will recommend it to others.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
"A book is a mysterious object, I said, and once it floats out into the world, anything can happen. All kinds of mischief can be caused, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. For better or worse, it's completely out of your control." -- Paul Auster
This book is one of several that I brought to Oxford to give away as a wishlist RABCK for one of my fellow BookCrossers.

I had just seen a stack of books with my name on them, and I'm such a noob I wasn't even dreaming it might happen, when you asked me if I had found them, and I had no idea I was to thank you for the surprise as well as for the information :)
So thanks again, and I must say I am overwhelmed by such kindness. This book will be flying to Romania .. and then .. who knows?

It feels do good to be a child every once in a while, but this one, although with a wide PG-rating, is more for the kids at heart than for the actual toddlers. The story itself is pretty basic, and it was entertaining and all, but what impressed me was the social commentary / fantasy trope satire in the background.
'But what if it prove that I am no harper?
That I lied for your love most monstrously?'
'Why, then I'll teach you to play and sing,
For I dearly love a good harp,' said she
Thank you once again for sharing this book with me :) It will soon travel to Olivia_Lo in Taiwan via the wishlist tag game.

A beautifully written and enchanting story.
I loved every page of this book. The pure escapism and innocence of Youth.

REVIEW:-"I tried really hard to get into and like this book as so many people seem to have loved it but I'm afraid it just wasn't for me. Maybe I'm just not a fantasy novel person. I dipped in and out of it but finally had to leave it mainly unread."

to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.
