I came across this fair-condition '70s hardcover (different cover than shown) on the charity-sale shelves at a local Hannaford's, and as I love du Maurier's work I nabbed it for a release copy. It contains five novellas, including the title story "Don't Look Now", a creepy tale of love and grief which was the inspiration for a very good 1973 film. The other stories are "The Breakthrough", about research into capturing the "life-force" as an energy source; "Not After Midnight", about a holiday in Crete that goes a bit wrong; "A Border-Line Case", which features a woman's search for the truth about her father - this one has some very deft fake-outs; and "The Way of the Cross", mingling the uncomfortable realities of tourism to a holy site with the very different reactions of the tourists. Du Maurier excels in ratcheting up tension, sometimes relieving it at the end with laughter and sometimes taking it well into horrifying territory...

[There's a TV Tropes page on the "Don't Look Now" film.]
