The book was acquired at Shakespeare & Company ( http://shakespeareandcompany.com/) and has been since April 2008 (!) on my BC wishlist and recommended also by the Shakespeare's staff.
Blurb:
This is yet another classic I've had some trouble with: David is antipathic to a point it was at times difficult to support him. I couldn' t quite befriend the writing style either and the recurrent errors in the French tidbits -maybe intended for the portrayal of some of the characters?- annoyed me to no end. Oh, the jumping to and fro past and present didn't help either to reconcile me with this classic.
So yes, there is a great love, but the way the whole story is presented didn't appeal to me at all.
Blurb:
Love can be dishonest
When DAvid meets the sensuam Giovanni in a bohemian bar, he is swept into a passionate love affair. But his girlfriend's return to Paris destroys everything. Unable to admit the truth, David prétends the liaison never happened - while Giovanni's life descends intro tragedy.
