This is a beautiful haunting story set in Hong Kong in ’67, the story of two US-American teenage sisters living in a fragile paradise. Then both the Vietnam War and China’s Cultural Revolution break into their world with deep impact. Alice Greenway manages not to overload the novel with facts and descriptions, she lets the reader’s imagination kick in and evokes a rich picture of Hong Kong with her beautiful poetic style. It’s a short book, just 168 pages, but intense and deep. Recommendable!
Spotted this on Tanamo's wishlist - and for some reason I was convinced that her name was on the attendees' list of the Oxford BC Convention. It wasn't. And I forgot to take it back with me... then, when I checked the table, it wasn't there anymore... so I hope it finds its way to her. Whoever took care of it: thanks a lot!!
Well I had registered an interest in the Convention but I never made it in the end. However Rita (ReetPetite) spotted it and picked it up for me as we sometimes get together at mini meets in Leicester. Unfortunately she cannot make our next meet on 22nd April but kindly posted this on to me.
So, thanks ApoloniaX for thinking of me and for the beautifully wrapped wish list book and thanks ReetPetite for playing go between. I hope you both had a great Convention.

Finally read this beautiful little book. I loved the way it is written but felt saddened by the ending.
