Dog on It

from amazon.com:
Chet, the wise and lovable canine narrator of Dog on It, and Bernie, a down-on-his-luck private investigator, are quick to take a new case involving a frantic mother searching for her teenage daughter. This well-behaved and gifted student may or may not have been kidnapped, but she has definitely gotten mixed up with some very unsavory characters. With Chet’s highly trained nose leading the way, their hunt for clues takes them into the desert to biker bars and other exotic locales—until the bad guys try to turn the tables and the resourceful duo lands in the paws of peril.

This was a lot better than I thought it might be not because it was a great mystery or anything special but because I was pleasantly surprised and pleased that the dog actually acted dog-like and was not humanized to the point of unbelievability. I loved Chet's doggie thoughts and how he misunderstands some aspects of the human world. I also like the bond between Chet and Bernie. This was a step above a few other cozy mysteries featuring talking/sleuthing dogs or cats that I have read. The mystery plot part was a bit hard to fathom in spots but still enjoyable.

This looks fun, thank you!
I loved this book! I'm giving it ten stars. I loved experiencing the story through Chet's eyes (and nose) and though he and Bernie are sharing the same world, each is able to find different clues to the mystery just because of who they are and how differently they perceive life. Loved they way the author wove that all together along with plenty of action.
Looking forward to the next in the series!
