pulled to read as part of Plum's November challenge - and so good, thus far. Back with a full review later.

rabck from HI77; TLC book club book from a few years ago. Book had a really good start. The day after her wedding, Ariah's husband commits suicide at Niagara Falls, just a short distance from the hotel where they were staying. The hotel manager's friend is Dirk Burnaby, and that's how Dirk gets to know Ariah, eventually marrying her in a quick wedding, causing her famly to disown her. The book twists and turns through their lives, although it could have gone into a lot more background work with Dirk. Then Dirk takes on a Love Canal law case...and the book runs out of steam. Dirk is killed, Ariah becomes odder - definitely not likeable at all, then the story spins with some of her kids...just really disconnected writing at that point. I think it could have been much better if Dirk had a different case - not Love Canal.
