While the powerlessness of the laboring class in a recurring theme in this classic work, Steinbeck narrows his focus, creating an intimate portrait of two men facing a world marked by petty tyranny, misunderstanding, jealousy, and callousness--a parable about commitment, loneliness, hope, and loss.

A classic. I've hear so much about this one, the adventures of George & Lennie. Looking forward to reading this one...
I can plainly see what a great writer John Steinbeck was just by what he managed to create in such a short book. These are characters very difficult to forget even after so short an acquaintance.
I'm also sure that critics and academics can analyse 'till exhaustion all the symbolic references, metaphors and second meanings, but in the end, its just a well told story.
Thank you so much LOGOphelia for sending me this. I owe you a mail for a shameful long time, I'll try to make it up in the near future!

To be read, Offer from Xana, more than a book, something to remember her.
