In an isolated stretch of eastern Kentucky stands a lighthouse that illuminates nothing but the surrounding woods. For years it has been considered no more than an eccentric local landmark - until its builder is found dead at the top of the light and his belongings reveal a troubling history. For Deputy Sheriff Kevin Kimble, the death somehow suggest a connection between the lighthouse and the most terrifying moment of his life.

Audrey Clark is moving her large-cat sanctuary onto land adjacent to the lighthouse. Her husband, the sanctuary's founder, died scouting the new property, and Audrey is determined to see his vision through. As strange occurrences multiply at the Ridge, Kimble and Audrey try to understand what evil forces are moving through this ancient landscape, just past the divide between dark and light.

This was a different type of book than I normally read but was good after it got going. I rated it a 8 but my hubby read it and rated it a 10!

The eccentric builder of a large lighthouse is discovered dead and when his home is searched he has some very strange items through out the rooms. It seems he was looking for something or someone and when the Deputy Sheriff Kevin Kimble hears some interesting stories from people who live in the area he recruits a newspaper reported to help him uncover the truth.

Meanwhile Audrey Clark has moved her large cat sanctuary right next door to the lighthouse with strange consequences.

I liked the story ok but did not fell that the cat angle added much to the story and it might have been better without this side line part of the book.

Now heading out as a tag game offering.

This was a good thriller. I liked the characters and loved the cats! There were a couple of weak points, however. Why did Ira even go to the sanctuary? And why did Vesey not make an offer to Wesley? But overall, I was intrigued by the premise. I enjoyed the postscript about the actual cat sanctuary that Koryta volunteers for as well.
