Picked up from the free books table outside the English Department at the University of Canterbury.
I remember getting this book (not this copy, obviously!) out of the school library when I was about 14, and finding it totally tedious. However for some reason I struggled through (I think even then I was as stubborn as I am now about never giving up on a book), and eventually reached the end, only to find that the last page had been torn out! That was seriously irritating, and put me off Dickens for years.
I really should read it again now, and see if I like it any better (or maybe I could just read the last page? :-) )
