From my 2014 Xmas present - The Essential Collection - a box set of 10 books published by Penguin.
Novella which I stuck with as curious to find what the state's 'procedure' was, to cure criminals of their evil ways. Humans right to 'choice' wins the day in this, 21 chapter, coming of age tale.
As expected, the crimes of the 15 year old Alex were horrendous but was this purely to shock Burgess' readers to read this book he'd allegedly churned out to get money?
Teenage slang was unbearable - ptitsa - for girl (although this has Russian origin for bird) eggiwegs for egg, jammiwam for jam and guttiwuts for guts- REALLY???
