I did not read it, but it is a classic book usable for bookcrossing :)

This copy already once travelled to Switzerland and back, because on the way I decided to read it. Which is done now ;)
The book more or less lived up to the expectations. There has been so much talk about it, there have been so many citations from it, that I kind of felt to know the story before opening the book. And basically I was right.
However, I found that one central aspect was not mentioned in anything I remembered: The question what's "truth". Is truth what we believe we have seen or what everyone else says? Is history what we seem to remember has happened or is it in fact what's written in the history books? This is a very important point for me - the rewriting of history, the creation of an official version of events that supports the current powers rather than matching the accounts of eye witnesses is something that still is done in large scale. This obviously was Orwell's point which occurs frequently in this book and is the center of "1984".

Just after I had packed the book in a bag to be released in Switzerland, I got a mail from someone who would like to read it. Now it's on its way by snail mail to some place far away...
