A young man is fighting for his life. Into his room walks a bewitching woman who believes she can save him. Their journey will have you believing in the impossible.

I loved this book when I first read it - it was my number one for the year. It is an extraordinary debut novel - a riveting love story about the redemptive power of suffering and a romance that transcends the limits of time and space. There was one section which I found quite difficult to read. If it had been on the television, I would have been behind the settee.

I've decided this is a book to share & so its going into my Random BookBox to find a new reader who I hope will enjoy it as much as I did.

Here's what I thought....
Wow!!!- has to be my first comment about this book...a totally gripping & enthralling read. Now I'm not particulary squeamish (I do like a bit of blood & gore) but in the first few pages some of the descriptions of the narrator's burns made me wince! But as horrific & shocking it may have been in parts it was also one of the most compelling books I think I've read.

The combination of the "present day" story & Marianne's tales of the past work so well together creating such an imaginative & emotional tale that is romantic yet macabre.....best thing to do is just read it for yourself - trust me, you won't be disappointed
