Journal Entry 1 by Tiikeri from Friedrichstadt, Schleswig-Holstein Germany on Saturday, November 8, 2014
For Ned, 1980 seems a blissful year. Handsome, charming, popular and talented, his life is progressing smoothly, effortlessly, happily. And when he meets the lovely Portia Fendeman his personal jigsaw appears complete.
But timing is everything in life, and his life is about to change forever.

Thank you, phideta, the book has arrived. I've enjoyed Fry's books in the past, I'm sure I will like this one too.
Wow, this wasn't what I expected the book to be like. Interesting story, a bit different from the ones I've read from Fry before. REVENGE! There's a word for you. ;)

Journal Entry 9 by Chania at Kokkola, Keski-Pohjanmaa / Mellersta Österbotten Finland on Wednesday, March 11, 2020
Amazing, Fry is such a multi-talented bloke! This book was so imaginative, so over-the-top and yet pretty real, I loved it!
Sending to bookfrogster next, I hope you stay safe in the time of corona!
And here it is, safe and sound in Edinburgh! Thank you so much Chania. I'm very glad it is a nice thick book - should keep me going for a while! ;-) Take care my Bookcrossing friend.
This was an interesting modern take on the story of the Count of Monte Cristo. I was familiar with the premise of that novel but haven't read it so wasn't sure how exactly the two compare. Is the main character in the Count of Monte Cristo as unpleasant as Ned? I found it hard to feel sympathy for him, particularly when he turned out to be a sadist. I can understand his rage, but would that really make you able to wreak the type of revenge he did? Most of the characters were pretty unlikeable, but that didn't stop me wanting to read on. Thank you for sending me this one Chania. I will get it travelling again once we are allowed back out into the world.
Can't really get to my usual LFLs right now. So off it goes to one a little further afield!
