Picked this up at meetup tonight,
I don't think I've ever read any literature based in India (not even "A passage to India") - so when I saw this I snatched it up. Will see how it goes :)

I enjoyed this book. It was a great, long character story of a woman trying to survive through the turbulent period during - I suppose you could call in "the making of modern India". Very interesting and in a setting I've never experienced before (know next to nothing about India, I have to say)... now I'm interested in that book box of Indian books that this was once a part of... maybe it'll come by again :)

I have just handed this book to my mum who I'm sure will like it... I have told her about bookcrossing and said that she must make a journal entry about it, then read it, then pass it on to all her friends...
