Then watch its journey. You’ll be alerted by e mail each time someone makes another journal entry. And it’s confidential (you are known only by your screen name and no one is ever given your e-mail address), free, and spam-free.

Lou Suffern wishes he could be in two places at one. His constant battle with the clock is a sensitive issue with his wife and family. Gabe is the homeless man who sits outside Lou's office. When Lou invites Gabe into the building and into his life, Lou's world is changed beyond all meansure...
I bumped this book to the top of my bundle because so many people said how wonderful it was. When I started reading it, although I was enjoying the story, it didn't really see what the fuss was about. However you become completely involved in Lou's story and wonder how he can't see the mistakes he is making. Towards the end I was close to tears (but I was on the bus!) when he was talking to his kids. But, I did find "Turkey Boy" distracting but maybe he was required to emphasis the moral of the story.
This has been all round the office and everyone has enjoyed it, all more than me and one person has put it in her all time top ten. I just can't get anyone else to do a journal so I'm doing it for them.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
Enjoyed this book. Sad in places though. Thought provoking.
The Gift makes an appealing tale, slightly dizzying for it moves at quite a pace, with both tragedy and notable uplift at its core. I was on reflection puzzled as to how the police couple managed to piece the story of Gabe's true involvement in Lou’s life. Admittedly I whizzed through this like I was a hot spoon dishing out brandy butter so perhaps I missed those links? No matter the moral here is clear enough and though I can see how many may love it, it just didn't pluck at my heart-strings like THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN by GARTH STEIN which I adored.
Thrilled to have come across a bookcrossed copy of this after finishing my own copy today – how’s that for coincidence - as I was agonising over whom to pass my copy onto next and now as I have two copies the dilemma is solved. Whoop!

I’m popping this into the post, within the next couple of days, for my partner in the Not-So-Secret-Father-Christmas-Surprise 2014 BC UK Yahoo Groups, gift giving event. It will be all wrapped up in Christmas paper and accompanied by a couple more books and some Festive & crafting materials, and maybe even a tiny spot of chocolate, who knows?

Thank you, I will add this book to my TBR pile which was very small but is now healthily tall.
A great story with an unexpected (to me anyway) ending. It reminded me of the film A Wonderful Life.
My mum gave me this ages ago and I forgot to journal it.
I thought it was a good story with a few unexpected twists.

A Christmas themed book for my NSSFC partner. Hope you like it.
Thank you, theicemaiden, for this book. It looks like it's got a Christmas-y theme so I'm looking forward to reading it!
