It took a while to get into this book and the ‘fun’ passed me by! However, it’s always good to try new authors and it’s another 1001 book off the list.

14 June 21 - I had only read one book by this author (Middlesex) and although I don’t remember it in great detail, it has stuck me, probably because of a storyline broaching a subject I knew very little about. So I was interested to read another. Essentially this is the story of a love triangle, and I have quite mixed feelings about it. I like the way the story was told from the different perspectives of the three people with the times overlapping slightly, it meant you got to see the story from the other side. However I didn’t really like any of the characters, even though at times I did feel sorry for Leonard, but they did also feel quite real at times, particularly when Mitchel is in India volunteering and is trying to find all the jobs he doesn’t mind doing, rather than the more gruesome jobs.
