Overall - a very sad book, I felt so sorry for the neglect that her son was subjected to.

A sad memoir. Beverly becomes pregnant as a teenager. She continues her lifestyle of drinking, drug use, promiscuity, and rebelling against authority. She does eventually get a college degree. I felt sorry for her son and the neglect he endured throughout his growing up years. I have not seen the movie and I don't have any interest in seeing it.
