As this is taking me so long to read, I thought I better review each book one at a time.
TITUS GROAN
Well, I didn't think this had much story for the first half. I suppose because it is the first book of the trilogy there was a lot of introducing people and places. However I couldn't really see the point of some of it but maybe it all becomes clear in the next books. I was quite fed up of it by Flay and Swelter's fight and found the end quite an arduous read.

GORMENGHAST
I read this book purely because it was number 84 on the BBC Big Read list. I did actually quite like the TV programme in 2000 but I realise now it was based on the first two books, otherwise Zoe Wanamaker (Clarice) would have died much sooner. Unfortunately reading it didn't do much for me. In fact, I found it quite a torturous read, rather than just arduous. I had to get it out of the library as an audio book to get to the end. Unfortunately my mind wandered many times.

TITUS ALONE
I've decided not to read this one. Apart from the fact I didn't enjoy the first two very much, when I took the audio book back to the library, the librarian gushed abut how much she enjoyed Gormenghast but told me not to bother with the third book. A member of my book group also told me the third book is nothing like the first two, which is almost a recommendation to me but I'm not going to bother.
